*Answer: This method was indeed used in early or very simple constructions, but it has obvious drawbacks. Directly screwing the sheets can easily damage the coating and base plate of the corrugated steel, becoming a starting point for corrosion. The screw heads are directly exposed, relying on rubber washers for waterproofing, which can easily leak after long-term aging. More importantly, direct screw fixing cannot effectively create a "clamping" force, resulting in weak wind resistance and inability to address thermal expansion and contraction issues. The bracket system, on the other hand, uses large-area interlocking or clamping to distribute the force, protect the roof panels, and integrate waterproofing design, making it a more professional and reliable solution.

 

*Question: How do brackets help the roof resist strong winds?

*Answer: When strong winds sweep across the roof, they create upward suction in certain areas. The brackets, through their tight interlocking with the corrugated steel sheets, provide evenly distributed gripping force, transferring the wind force to the purlins and main structure below. Professional wind-resistant bracket designs have longer interlocking edges or additional locking mechanisms, significantly improving wind resistance. Calculating and installing a sufficient number of the correct type of brackets is crucial to ensuring the safety of the roof during typhoons and other severe weather conditions.

 

*Question: What impact does thermal expansion and contraction have on corrugated steel roofs, and how do brackets address this?

*Answer: Metal corrugated steel sheets expand or contract with temperature changes. If all fixing points are rigid, the sheets will bulge during expansion and experience tension during contraction, which may lead to loosening of fixing points, deformation of the sheets, or cracking of the paint over time. Sliding brackets (also known as sliding clips) allow the roof panels to slide freely a certain distance along their length while fixed to the purlins, thereby releasing temperature stress and protecting the roofing system.

 

*Question: What is the relationship between brackets and roof waterproofing?

*Answer: Brackets themselves are components that penetrate the roof, so their design incorporates various waterproofing measures. High-quality mounting brackets typically come with integrally molded waterproof caps or sealing strips. During installation, the caps fit tightly onto the crests of the corrugated metal roofing panels, forming a physical waterproof barrier. Correct installation, ensuring the caps are fully seated, is crucial in preventing leaks from the fastening points.
